“That’s a whole nuther matter” … this is not correct. You wouldn’t say … “That’s a whole another matter”. My grammar is far from perfect, but this one drives me crazy!!

I’ve always had a soft spot for Safari and it’s a really good browser. But it has it’s problems. Lately it’s been crashing at start up for me. So, I’m sure I’ll find a solution, but in the interim, I’m using Firefox, which I keep installed anyway, because it’s a really good browser too. But here’s my rant: you CAN’T set your default browser in OSX WITHOUT using Safari! So, every time I click on a link it tries to open Safari (which is crashing). So, how am I supposed to change it? You used to be able to do this in the system prefs, but apparently, Apple decided that was too easy and they wanted more people using Safari so they changed it. But if you can’t open it because it’s crashing, what is one to do??

First of all, let me just say that this is the most Microsoftian behavior I’ve seen from Apple. Isn’t that how Microsoft got in trouble with IE? Boooo Apple!

Second of all, there is a work around (probably several, but this is the one I used) Download More Internet which puts a preference pane in that allows you to control what apps certain types of links and files are handled by… included HTTP. Problem solved! Pffft Apple!

end rant.
carry on.

I just saw a Blackberry storm commercial where they showed an on screen keyboard! and it actually made clicking sounds when you tapped the screen! THEN (brace yourself) they turned the phone sideways and the KEYBOARD actually went horizontal!! Unbelievable!! They said … “what genius came up with this??”

in case you don’t know the answer … the genius is Apple.

McCain Falsehoods

Before people (you know who you are) start spouting McCain sound bites to me … he is misrepresenting what Obama said and quite painfully so. It’s almost embarrassing to watch. He claims the “definition of rich keeps creeping down”. Not so… he is comparing to separate parts of the tax plan. Less than $250,000 per year, no tax increase, less than $200,000 per year, a tax CUT. Biden made a general statement about “the way it used to be” when you get a tax cut at less than $150,000.

Don’t take my word for it… http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/more_tax_deceptions.html

It’s these kind of generalizations without fact checking and sound bit mud slinging that makes me hate politics so much. If someone would like to intelligently argue with me about taxes, I’m all ears. I will listen (or read) carefully and make my own judgement after weighing all the facts. I have yet to discuss this with a Republican that is willing to do the same. I don’t pretend to know a lot about taxes or the economy, but I know how to look beyond the rhetoric and make my own decisions.

I’m sure this has been blogged all over the internet, but I can’t help myself and I don’t have time to research it. And, it’s been a while since I posted something in the Rant category. So here goes…

It’s not “heighth”… there’s no H on the end. Too many times I hear people say “width and heighth” and it drives me just a little crazy.

ok, that’s my Rant. Drop your H’s please.

Ok, I know this is likely to be one of the most blogged rants out there lately, but I have to do my part. Do we really live in a country where Larry King bumps Michael Moore talking about his new film on the health care industry for Paris Hilton getting out of jail?? Why does anyone care even slightly about that? Because she’s supposedly pretty and famous? No matter what you think of Michael Moore, isn’t it a no brainer that a controversial analysis of our health care system would be of more interest to the audience of Larry King than some skinny rich brat whining about no blackberry service in her jail cell? I don’t watch Larry King that much but I was under the impression that he was deserving of a little more respect than that. I guess not! I’m certainly not going to watch anymore.
